What is in this category, and what to watch for
Electrical parts make up our widest category: headlight and taillight assemblies, engine and SRS control units, alternators, starters, sensors, instrument clusters, audio systems, parking sensors, and dozens of other modules. A lot of these parts are electronically coded to the specific car they came from, so ordering without a VIN is riskier here than anywhere else -- a control unit can physically bolt in and still not function without proper coding. One note specifically on headlights: European-spec (ECE) headlights are generally not DOT-compliant for US road use under FMVSS 108, so if you are in the US, flag that with us before ordering and we will help you figure out what is actually legal for your car -- a small number of Mercedes lighting units, mainly certain G-Class parts, are built to meet both standards.
